Yılmaz’ means ‘dauntless’. ‘Argüden’ means ‘honorable’, ‘guide for integrity’ and is pronounced as ‘argue then’, as in the phrase “if you don’t agree, argue then.”

Dr. Argüden, Chairman of ARGE Consulting and Rothschild – Turkiye, is selected to the Private Sector Advisory Group of the International Finance Corporation.  Dr. Argüden said “Serving in this capacity to help improve governance is exciting. Improving the quality of governance is one of the best means of improving the quality of life throughout the globe.”

Global Corporate Governance Forum was founded in 2001 by the World Bank and the OECD to promote initiatives to raise corporate governance standards and practices using the OECD Principles of Corporate Governance as the basis for its work. The Private Sector Advisory Group of the International Finance Corporation is chaired by Peter Dey, and the members are leading global figures promoting corporate governance throughout the world such as Ira M. Millstein and Mervyn King.

Dr. Yılmaz Argüden is a leading strategist, advisor, and board member of major public and private companies, and NGOs.  He is the Chairman of ARGE Consulting, a leading management consulting firm based in Istanbul; Chairman of Rothschild investment bank in Turkiye; and an Adjunct Prof. of Business Strategy at the Bosphorus University and the Koç University.   He has served on more than 50 different boards in a number of different jurisdictions as chairman or member.  He is currently serving on the governance committees of Coca Cola Icecek, Inmet Mining, Vestel, and Yazıcılar Holding boards.

He was selected as a Global Leader for Tomorrow by the World Economic Forum. He is also the National Representative of the Global Compact in Turkiye. He is a graduate of the Pardee RAND Graduate School, and an Eisenhower, Fulbright, and NATO Fellow. He has published books such as “Boardroom Secrets” and “ARGE Corporate Governance Model” and serves on the Advisory Council of the Corporate Governance Association of Turkiye (TKYD).

Founded in year 2003, The Corporate Governance Association of Turkiye is a non-profit organization established for disseminating best practices of corporate governance, through developing the culture and assisting the implementation. Over 500 directors and top level executives meet in TKYD to discuss and shape the future of governance in the country.
