He studied at the Tarsus American College, founded with the vision of making “Leaders for Türkiye, Leadership for the World”, and received Fulbright and TUBITAK scholarships. He not only achieved the highest grade point average, but also played on the school’s basketball team that won the Turkish Championship in his senior year in high school. He gained life-long friendships during his formative years at Tarsus.
1976 was a terrific year for TAC
Tarsus American College became the National Basketball Champions in all age categories, and also won the first National Handball Championship this year. The class of ’76 was very successful academically, becoming one of the top 5 high schools of the nation in university entrance exams. One-third of the ’76 class entered top medical schools while 20% got into the top 2 universities of Türkiye; Bogazici University (formerly Robert College) and Middle East Technical University.

He was instrumental in establishing management systems for the SEV Foundation, which was founded by the graduates, and assumed ownership for the American Board Schools in Türkiye. Later, he was elected as a Trustee of the Foundation, served on the Board of Directors, and as the Chairman of the Governance Committee.
